Saturday

I like Saturdays most weeks. There is something usually celebratory about that day. In my area, we have a Saturday market that takes place most of the year. It is a great place to support the work of local artisans and craft people.

There is also a drum circle. After doing some market research, pun intended, for my own purposes, I spent the rest of my short visit there today. It was not at its full flow yet. The circle really gets going in the late afternoon, but I had to leave before that. We had a chance to celebrate a friends 60th birthday today at an outside small gathering and it was a healing experience. Music and talking and food, it is the type of gathering easily taken for granted.

I spent some of the day making Art and music and various other things, but I took time to cherish people and their company. As an Artist, this can be taken for granted as well. It can be enticing to stay in the studio and not have a social life, and sometimes that is important. But it is important to get out and see the world and its inhabitants sometimes, for the sake of connection and being. Today was a good day to help remind me of that…
